Reap the seeds you sow

As the saying goes ‘Reap the seed you sow’. Yes,at times it applies, but not always…

At times I feel very fortunate to be in my current job. Why you may ask?
1. I’ve got very nice colleagues. We are not competitive, very nice to each other. The culture here is a very friendly environment…
2. I’ve got a boss who recognizes our effort and willing to fight for our rights and well deserved rewards and benefits
3. At times when you meet appreciative clients, you really get that job satisfaction
4. Challenging timelines, deadlines, and whats not, always keeps your brain working. It can be very draining at times
5. You get chances to travel to places that you will never go… Manila, Mumbai and Russia.. Maybe Turkey this year.
6. Most importantly there are rewards and prizes to be won

I’m only going to touch on the happy stuffs and forget about the negative ones… Ever since I’ve joined my company, I’m quite happy that I’ve won several prizes… And they are cash prizes.

A) Discover awards – x2 the projects that we have done are nominated for the global award. And there will be usd300 for that. This was when I was in genting, and I received the news that we got awarded!

B) Job well done – we have gotten praises from our clients and with that, the company gave out cash incentive for all hard work and effort put in

C) Precision growth award – this is a global monthly award. I had written this entry at the very last minute and only sent it on the last day of entry… To my surprise, we manage to beat everyone else globally and got the award! This cash prize was a bonus, and it’s a hefty sum. Yeay!

D) staff recognition award – this was gotten 2-3 months back, when me and my colleague worked very hard to meet super challenging timelines!

That’s all my achievement in 2-3 years time, and I think it’s quite an achievement. No, I’m not boasting, but what I’m trying to say is… Hard work pays off.. We should work hard while we are young and while we can… Though having moolahs is good, to me, more importantly, I have to like what I’m doing..

Happy birthday & happy 2 years anniversary!

While waiting to meet my dearest bf, I thought I would start drafting my blogpost first..

Have stepped into my quarter life this year, and I’m not complaining.. Embrace it! I love it when my friends celebrated my birthday.. And of course, my dear. Special thanks to these friends for making my birthday a ‘blast’! It was epic.. Too epic!

The night before my birthday, I spent time with my man. He’s so sweet and really dotes on me alot. And I really feel very blessed to have him by my side all the time. He bought me a cake, from awfully chocolate. ( he is supposed to get me my passionfruit meringue cake!) I was kind of disappointed, but after I see him putting in so much effort, of course not anymore!

And the gift he has specially prepared for me, makes me feel so touched yet heart pain at the same time. It’s also our 2 years anniversary together <;3

20120516-211431.jpg

On the actual day, due to my busy schedule at work, I wasn’t able to take any leave but of course, I have nice and pretty colleagues, who brought me out for lunch and bought me a lovely mango cake!

20120516-210539.jpg20120516-210547.jpg

And…. Guess what! A surprise! I saw my colleague bringing this cake to me…

This colleague is a mutual friend of Choy and I.. Yes, my passionfruit meringue cake!!! Wohooo!

20120516-211947.jpg

What a pleasant surprise! I really love the cake and I felt bad being disappointed with Choy, it turns out that he was in cahoots with my colleague and brought me my fav cake!

20120516-212216.jpg

Sugar rush!

I was actually supposed to meet my group of friends at Dempsey but they wanted to let me spend the night with my bf, so they agreed to meet another day. Hence I went ahead with the plan, bf and I went to Dempsey.. It was our first time there together.

20120516-210833.jpg

We were lingering around there quite awhile after having our starters, main course and even desserts. Hmmm, and I was wondering whats the plan after.

Well it turns out that the girlfriends wanted to give me a big surprise, and they turned up at dempsey. Okay, though I’m not too surprised, am touched that you girls came all the way here! *hugz*

20120516-211112.jpg

And other group of crazy girlfriends! We met up the next day and went to hummerstons for dinner. I love the ambience there. It’s pretty nice concept, love such restaurants, but food can be better.

20120516-213044.jpg

Next stop: over easy for drinks

20120516-213125.jpg

After 2 shots, we went ahead to queue at butterfactory…

20120516-213250.jpg

20120516-213538.jpg

And the biggest surprise is… I did not bring my ic and was refused entry! I was my own party pooper! O well, we still had a great night :)

I had a blast on my birthday, isn’t it?!!

Happy 25th birthday to me!

And my belated 2 years anniversary gift for my man.

20120516-214410.jpg

Thank you dear.. For showering me with all your love!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day to all!

I know how commercialized vday is, but don’t we all just fall into the trap, of giving gifts and celebrating our love for each other with extravagant dinner etc? Well, that is simply peer pressure. I truly believe that this should not be the way. To me, everyday is vday, because I feel loved, I feel pampered, and treasured! Of course, vday has its own purposes; it serves as a reminder to stay in love.

My gift? My colleagues was asking me in the afternoon, ‘where are your flowers?’ and I was pointing to a paperbag of flowers. Somehow, it seems as a tradition for my Bf to send flowers to the office as he has sent it the 3rd time. First monthsary, 1st vday and 2nd vday. I don’t deny It feels good, but it is still too expensive! So my dear, if you are reading this, I don’t need a bouquet during vday.

20120215-232620.jpg

My pretty flowers with me looking crap!

And my gift to him, for always being so supportive, being my consultant, and my aunt agony. I love you!

Thanks for stepping into my life, it is now filled with happiness!

New Year Resolution

I know I’m late, but I have kinda set my resolution, but have yet to pen them down

1) leading a healthy lifestyle – I’m totally not attaining it with my current lifestyle, late dinners due to work, fast food becomes a natural top of mind option for me. Okay, who am I trying to kid, I love everything and anything unhealthy. And my exercise plans are not coming through. Have been procrastinating for the longest period of time, wanted to learn kickboxing, or continue my swimming routine!

20120205-102524.jpg
2) career advancement – yes, who wouldn’t wish for this? I’m patiently waiting for my increment and bonus if any. I know I shouldn’t be excited over it, cos I don’t want to face disappointment when the time comes. Hope everything will be finalized soon, and I’ll get my moolahs! And there’s extra cash as I have won some global awards. Wohooo!

20120205-102856.jpg

My team at work

3) striking work life balance – work is taking up 3/4 of my time, besides my sleeping time. I’m so deprive of shopping till I’ve shopped my Cny clothes all online. And I tried shopping at retails, but returned with nothing! How disappointing!

20120205-102602.jpg

20120205-102612.jpg
My shopping buys for Cny!

4) Leading a blissful life with my love – We have tried bto several times, but couldn’t make it. We gotta save up more for our future. I need to stop spending on holidays, short and cheap getaways are sufficient!

20120205-102640.jpg

That’s all folks.

Looking back 2011

Happy new year my dearest friends! It’s been a really hectic schedule in 2011, and my first quarter of 2012 is filled with loads and tons of work! Before I go on setting my new year resolution, this post will be summing up everything about 2011.

Let me try to recall all the places that I have been to.

1) Mumbai – the daredevil experience, and probably the one and only time I’ll be going to India. Love the food there! it’s my second work trip.

20120105-205524.jpg
2) Hong Kong – it is our first year anniversary and my birthday. Lots of fun, especially the magical Disneyland, brought us lots of happy and romantic memories. Waking up to each other, spending the day together hand in hand. celebrating my birthday and my silly dear singing to me. How sweet!

20120105-205530.jpg

3) Bali – it’s the awesome villa with the girlies. With lots of massage, chilling and even sea sports! Love it that it’s our first trip together, and we enjoyed it lots, though it was kind of short.

20120105-205537.jpg

4) Batam – An extremely short getaway, supposedly with the grad trippers, but it turns out, only 3 of us went ahead with Jingyi and friend! It’s a long day of tour, and we are kinda dreading it till we parted our ways with the tour and went to batam city shopping centre. Love the cheap ayam penyet and juices!

20120105-205542.jpg

5) Genting with <3- needless to say, I've been there so many times that im pretty familiar with the place. You can test me with any shots, and I'll be able to tell you where it is! :P I love the chilling weather there, it is just right for me.

20120105-205550.jpg

6) Batam again – this time round with my colleagues. The huge and spacious lobby at the harmoni one hotel wowed us! The exciting flying fox and paintball experience! And the boring team meeting the next day. All in all, still fun!

20120105-211012.jpg

7) Moscow – I can’t express how much I love the weather there. It is really an extremely short trip, but I really enjoyed my stay there. Though 80% of the time I was working! But I’ve tried their local food, experienced their local culture, met up with the nice colleagues and went to kremlin! Yeay, I’ll probably never get a chance to go to Russia on my own.

20120105-211006.jpg

8) Korea, Seoul and Jeju – i miss this place so much! My first time experiencing snow. Though it’s very similar to rain, instead of droplets of water, it’s snow flakes! How amazing, enchanting and pretty! Of course, it’s just like our honeymoon trip, we made kimchi, we tried ice carving, we rode on horses, we experienced hot spring outdoors during winter time and we snow skied! We shall plan for a white Christmas soon! :)

20120105-205630.jpg
9) and guess my last destination of the year? not so exciting, and the 3rd time of the year, batam! Seriously you must have thought that I really love batam, but in actual fact, I prefer genting anytime! This time round with my crazy girls, 11 years of friendship and counting. Yeay! Shopping massage banana boat and lots of pictures sums up the entire trip!

20120105-205651.jpg

It’s a fun filled year for me, don’t you think so? I’m blessed with all the good friends, families and the best boyfriend (in my eyes). Thank you all for being part of my life.

Countdown starts!

It’s only barely a week to go for my Korea trip, I’m super excited! I can’t wait, already in my holiday mood!

Yesterday, I took leave to accompany my dear since he just ended his exams the day before. We went to have a great brunch at wild honey.

20111126-140737.jpg

And look, who we have met, lyn! Such a coincidence!

20111126-140755.jpg

We were supposed to catch twilight but we had plans for dinner alr and couldn’t squeeze in any additional time for a movie, hence we went shopping instead. I saw the coat that I like at a 30% off and my dear offered to pay for it. Hehe, starting to ‘suck’ money from him! :P

Dear shopped and bought a lot more than me. Heh, probably cos of the bonus, 1.75 months.. Ohhh how I wish I am a civil servant. Sigh!! But that’s not the point, the point in this post is… I really wanna thank my dear for being so supportive and of cos for doting on me. Nobody loves me more than he does. He’s always there for me, always ready to pay for my shopping buys, and bring me to awesome places to eat. He pampers me so much :) and he brings me to food places that I crave for. Loves!

What’s in for me

There was once, I overheard my colleagues’ conversation at the pantry. I’m not eavesdropping, it’s loud enough for me to be able to hear it.

A: After you, it will be me.
B: Really, maybe you’ll be first.

Naturally, it occurs to me that they are having a marriage conversation and B will get married before A. Heh!

And they were actually talking about leaving the company and taking a new career path ahead. It struck me. Again, i wonder if this path is for me. Well, I’ve mentioned on various occasions that

1. I like my job scope.
2. I’m happy to have really nice colleagues around me.
3. I can’t find anything more suitable for me. Not yet perhaps.

But there are always the negative side of my job
A. I’m always doing the same thing. Mundane job.
B. Insane amount of work, long working hours
C. Clearing others ‘shit’ sometimes

Well, which job doesn’t have that bad side, it’s gets mundane after you have been doing the same work over and over again.

What do you think??!!

Striking a work life balance

I wonder why is it that in the research industry, it’s so difficult to strike a work life balance. To be able to do it, is no easy feat. And clients always like to come back at the same time, adding on to the additional workload. Sigh! I just can’t wait for December. Another month and I’ll be snow skiing!

Sometimes I’m really so mad at myself. Why am I still so reserved when it comes to presentation. Actually, I know my stuffs well and I should be able to handle presentation, but I always freaked out whenever I had to! Sigh. How am I going to overcome my barrier? At this rate, I can’t be promoted anytime soon. Lets out a greater sigh!

On a random note, I really need to save up!

Moscow work trip

I’m really thankful that I have gotten a chance to travel to Moscow for presentation. I always welcome work trip, and every single trip, i really like the experience. First, it was manila, 2nd mumbai and 3rd moscow. How lucky! Such a pity that I always didnt have sufficient time to roam around the city.

20111026-151903.jpg

This is -1 degrees with mr sun! Lovely weather!

Love the cold weather there, albeit I was complaining initially that it was too cold. I got used to the weather rAther quickly and I’m adapting very well to it. I like the cold weather with the sun combination, though I wouldn’t mind if the weather was gloomy, I have had enough of sun in sg.

Kremlin is beautiful! So magnificent, and you’ll never miss it. From
Far, you’ll be able to spot it. Some majestic buildings and very beautiful churches. It’s unfortunate that we only had very little time to tour around the area. Nevertheless we maximized our 2 hours there.

20111026-152328.jpg

Food wise is great! Warm borsch soup with tasty meat dumplings dip in sour cream. Sipping vodka and neutralizing it by eating pickles. Loving the authentic feel of the restaurant and can’t stop snapping away. Thanks to the wonderful Russian colleagues who brought us there.

20111026-152453.jpg

20111026-152459.jpg

Though I like it there, but it can’t be compared to sg, where all my family and friends are very close and dear to me :)

And there, I’m back.
